Title:
Coffee Prompts...
Rating: Shading towards M
Other: 'His lips tasted of coffee' prompt from wei_jiangling.

---

It’s 3:23pm,
so her Start bar tells her, but two more minutes waiting may as well be a lifetime. She stands, stretches, slower and more expansive than bureaucracy, and saunters the few steps to the fridge. There’s milk and there’s sugar, but she has to hunt for the coffee: it’s new, black-packaged, and remarkably well-disguised as a teabag. She imagines the process behind such a marketing decision, the consumer group, listing their innumerable hopes for the future of coffee. She admits 'more like tea' is a strangely typical response for this world; ‘be more like he’, ‘be more like her’, ‘be more like everyone and everything already known, already tasted’.

“You want?” she asks, on route to the kitchen. The question’s ignored. Once again, she asks. One says yes, the other please, but he -- he tells her no.
