For one long instant, Vayne Solidor looked other than himself.

The teeming mass of the youngest Solidor catapulted through the door of Vayne’s solar with the childish exuberance, directly into Vayne’s arms. Evidently this made it somewhat difficult for Vayne to concentrate on controlling every peripheral gesture, including his smile.

The smile currently gracing Vayne’s face could well be the first true sample of the expression, in Ffamran’s recollection.

The youngest Solidor played at marbles with his next eldest brother. From a distance, the sight of them made the Judge Magister pair smile behind their masks. The taller, long-haired elder crouched with the tensile ease of a warrior while the youngest fidgeted, scrambling oft on all fours as he sought the reach that would allow him dominion over his marbled domain. His knees, in particular, were dirty from contact with the ground; his hose baggy.

It was not often the Solidors allowed themselves to be observed so at ease, even the youngest.

Closer, when the nature of the game could be deduced, one of the Judges Magister lost her smile.
